This program is hosted by the Professionalism Coordinating Council Committee and the LGTBQ+ Bar Association.

Program Description      
 
This program is designed to promote education and understanding of pronoun usage and gender identity both personally and in the context of the legal profession. The program will cover a variety of issues including, but not limited to, understanding different gender identities, pronoun usage, gender-neutral language, ethics, responsibilities of lawyers, and practicing allyship. This session will include personal stories, PowerPoint slides, and a Q/A. This program is applicable to all legal professionals to foster inclusivity, understanding, and acceptance in the workplace and the greater legal community.      
       
       
Speaker Bios      
     
Judge Ted C Tow has served on the Colorado Court of Appeals since February 2018. Before joining the appellate court, Judge Tow served on the trial bench for seven years as a District Judge in the 17th Judicial District (Adams County). Prior to his judicial service, he served as the Executive Director of the Colorado District Attorneys’ Council, following several years as a deputy district attorney. He began his legal career in private practice, working as an associate primarily in labor and employment for three different law firms in Chicago and Denver. Judge Tow is a graduate, faculty member, and co-director of the Colorado Institute for Faculty Excellence in Judicial Education, and a frequent presenter on issues involving ethics, professionalism, and inclusive courtrooms. He is also a past Chair of the Colorado Commission on Judicial Discipline.        
       
Hayden DePorter (they/them) is an appellate law clerk at the Colorado Court of Appeals.   Hayden is passionate about DEI efforts, which has led to speaking engagements across Colorado and beyond.  They won the inclusive excellence award from the University of Denver, as well as the summit scholar award from the Colorado LGBTQ+  Bar Association.  Hayden is currently on the Colorado LGBTQ+ Bar Association Board of Directors, a member of the CBA Professionalism Coordinating Council, and a recent COBALT graduate.  Hayden received their J.D. from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law and their B.S. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison where they worked as a beet farmer.
