Attention paralegals and attorneys with a foreign law degree: the landscape in Colorado has transformed! Now, subject to eligibility criteria and successful completion of the qualifying exam, you could become a Licensed Legal Paraprofessional! This enables you to establish your own practice, serve clients independently in select family law matters, and take charge of your professional journey.
But what are the considerations for you practicing on your own, or as the primary advisor for the client? This program is designed to cover the basic considerations for you. Esteemed judges, family law attorneys, and mediators will provide guidance as you navigate the transition from supporting role to lead.

- Gain invaluable insights from LLP equivalents from Arizona, Utah, and Washington on crucial lessons they wish they had known at the outset.
- Engage in interactive sessions where speakers will present hypothetical scenarios following their lecture, allowing you to analyze and discuss them in small group settings under the guidance of seasoned family law practitioners.
- Gain the perspective of a variety of judges, attorneys, and mediators that you may encounter in your future cases.
- Learn about attending court from current and former judges with a family law docket!

DBA MVL Pro Bono Work and Discounted Tuition
Commit to pro bono work for DBA Metro Volunteer Lawyers and attend for only $25. *
The Pro Bono Rate is available to persons attending the CLE in-person (no home study option) and who do the following by the end of 2025:
- Volunteer with MVL three times in either the Family Law Court Program or the Family Law Advice and Guidance Program (FLAG), which has live and virtual opportunities. Learn more at www.denbar.org/mvl
You don’t have to live in the Denver Metro Area in order to participate! You may volunteer with MVL in the FLAG program that provides virtual consultation opportunities.
*If you do not satisfy these terms by the end of 2025, you will be invoiced the difference between the reduced and full tuition rate.
Home studies will be available 2-3 weeks following the live program.
