The Securities Subsection of the Colorado Bar Association works to keep its members updated on developments in the securities laws and trends in the civil and regulatory enforcement of those laws. The Subsection regularly contributes to the Business Law Section’s monthly newsletter and sponsors frequent “lunch and learn” presentations that provide the opportunity for securities attorneys engaged in private practice and securities regulators to meet in a social setting to learn about and discuss current topics. Approximately 100 attorneys and regulators attend these meetings at which a speaker makes a presentation on a securities law topic, and the topic is then discussed by the audience. One CLE credit is earned for attending each meeting.
The Subsection’s executive team consists of a Chair and Vice-Chair, who are responsible for (a) representing the Subsection on the Executive Council of the CBA’s Business Law Section, (b) driving Subsection membership and involvement, (c) participating in the initiation and review of legislation involving securities law matters, and (d) coordinating the frequent Subsection luncheons. The Chair and Vice-Chair serve a total of four years as officers, with each elected to first serve two years as Vice-Chair, followed by two years as Chair. The Subsection holds a member-wide leadership election every two years. The current Subsection executive team consists of:
· Kelley Howes, Chair
· TBD, Vice-Chair
