Communication Committee

The Communication Committee promotes Section activities and fosters outreach to Section members, the other sections of the CBA, and the public. The Communication Committee coordinates with The Colorado Lawyer in the publication of articles related to ADR, and actively seeks proposals for articles for The Colorado Lawyer from members. The Communications Committee publishes the ADR Section monthly newsletter, as well as communicates critical information of interest to members via other   communication vehicles. During Conflict Resolution Month, celebrated throughout October, the Communications Committee collaborates with Conflict Resolution Month in Colorado to celebrate statewide ADR efforts and to distribute ADR book of the year selection to Colorado’s appellate court judges, all District Court Chief Judges, and District family court facilitators.

Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Committee

The EDI Committee helps implement the CBA's Diversity and Inclusivity Action Plan and promotes EDI within the practice of ADR.  The EDI Committee coordinates EDI efforts with other CBA Sections, affinity bars, and law student groups. The EDI Committee organizes ADR mentoring circles in connection with the Colorado Attorney Mentoring Program and works to provide ADR-related EDI content to our website. The EDI Committee creates strategic plans to encourage participation and selection of more diverse mediators and arbitrators. We pride ourselves on fostering inclusivity in both the ADR Section and within the greater Colorado ADR community.

Legislative Committee

The Legislative Committee reviews proposed legislation impacting ADR in Colorado, provides timely updates to members, and sends membership-focused feedback about legislative proposals to the CBA Legislative Policy Committee. The Legislative Committee drafts memoranda regarding the ADR Section’s position on ADR-related bills before the General Assembly that may directly affect the ADR community and field. Legislative Committee members help solicit questions and suggestions from ADR Section members in preparing required position memoranda.  The Chair of the Legislative Committee serves as a liaison to CBA’s Legislative Policy Committee (LPC). The Committee Chair and interested Committee members LPC meetings on a regular basis for updates.

Programs Committee

The Programs Committee plans social engagement and professional activities for ADR Section members. The ADR Section co-sponsors the CBA-CLE Annual ADR Conference in the Fall, and the Programs Committee is involved in planning this highly renowned conference, which includes CLE sessions covering both substantive and management aspects of the ADR Practice. We support Court Mediation Services (CMS), which serves the Denver District, County and Small Claims Courts, and administer the Resolution Corps, a panel of experienced online mediators available throughout Greater Colorado for paid virtual mediation services. Finally, the Programs Committee sponsors periodic free CLEs and an EDI book/multimedia club. The Program Committee strives to provide fun and innovative programs to our members.
